Applying to a University: what to do and what not

Applying to a University

Psychology , beauty therapy , engineering , and many others. When it comes to college courses it’s hard to know where to start. Unfortunately, we can’t tell you what to study at university. However, we can give you some tips for applying to college, in hopes of relieving some of your stress.

Our universities and catalog downloads area will allow you to search and browse university courses and providers. Before that, however, there are a few things to consider. We like to keep things simple here at garudaaviationacademy, so here are some tips for things you should do and things you definitely shouldn’t.

Do: Read the prospectus and use the “Request Information” button in your search results to send your questions to university staff. Immersing yourself in the brochure is the key to making an informed decision about what, where and how you want to study university courses.

Don’t: Choose subjects you’ve already taken in school because you don’t know anything about the unknown ones offered at the university. There are more subjects in the university, investigate new options, in addition to the ones you already know.

Do – If you get the chance, it’s a great idea to visit the college you’re planning to attend. It is important that you come to feel that the place is perfect and that you imagine yourself studying there. At an open house at the university you will probably have the opportunity to meet the tutors, tour the campus, and even try the food in the cafeteria.

Don’t: Let yourself be influenced by where your friends go. Go to the university that suits you best. Everyone is in the same boat when college courses start, so making friends is going to be easy.

Do: Think about your career when you are deciding which of the pre-university courses you could take. If you know you want to be a doctor, then ask yourself if a course in Performing Arts is going to help you achieve that dream. It pays to think ahead and choose the courses that are going to play in your favor.

Don’t: Get overly stressed about your job prospects. We’re not trying to confuse you, it’s just that you really can’t figure out what career you want to pursue yet. While you are picking up topics that you are passionate about, you will be able to discover your perfect job position, since that is learned.

Do: ask other students who have gone to university or studied the same course to tell you about their experience. Don’t be afraid to bombard them with questions, remember that they were once in the same position as you.

Don’t: Leave your app until the last minute. This is an important decision that could potentially affect your entire future. Take your time, make sure you don’t forget anything, and consider any financial help. Find out how you can qualify for student financial aid.

While you’re still in the middle of the decision process, we can offer you a lot of help in exploring your career options .
